Dark Fibre Africa claimed the prestigious “New Entrant of the Year” award for its innovative neutral, open access fibre infrastructure.
The award was received at the second annual AfricaCom awards ceremony, held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The AfricaCom awards recognise excellence and outstanding performance in the African telecommunications industry over a 12-month period.
“It is a tremendous honour to be acknowledged and to receive this award,” says Gustav Smit, CEO for Dark Fibre Africa.
Over the past year, DFA has expanded their open access fibre infrastructure throughout South Africa. DFA has been able to trench through 1 100kms for the placement of fibre, and plans to double that amount by next year, extending their infrastructure within South Africa.
DFA specialises in providing a neutral, open access, ducting infrastructure set-up for licensed telecom and Internet operators. This infrastructure allows for a high-speed voice, data and video communication service for the customer.
