DHL debuts Open Innovation competition

Logistics Week.

Open Innovation is a paradigm that assumes firms can and should use ideas gathered from a variety of external sources, in addition to ones generated internally, as they look to advance their technology.

According to Logistics Manager.com, the concept is already used in the automotive, technology and consumer industries.

“With growing cities all over the world, the challenges of city logistics and urban living are becoming more and more demanding. Solutions for decreasing traffic and getting cities greener are crucial for the future,” says Steffen Frankenberg, VP at DHL Solutions and Innovations.

The company said a jury of experts will evaluate submissions, which can be submitted between 18 October and 28 November, notes Post and Parcel.

Contest winners in each category will be offered prizes including holidays in cities served by DHL Solutions and Innovations, but there is also the possibility that a participant could be offered an internship, and the chance to see his or her idea implemented by Deutsche Post DHL.
