Specialist telecommunications distributor, Siltek Telecoms, has announced Dialogic's definitive agreement to acquire UK-based DataKinetics Ltd.
"The acquisition will enable Dialogic to gain key products, technologies and industry expertise thus extending their capabilities as providers of next-generation network equipment and solutions," comments Michael Aitken, MD of Dialogic distributor, Siltek Telecoms.
"Telecommunication and networking customers will now be able to enjoy an expanded ability to create new voice-based Internet and e-Commerce applications as well as services based on DataKinetics products," he adds.
As a supplier of a complete family of Signalling System 7 (SS7) hardware and software products, DataKinetics' SS7 protocols serve as the basis for controlling telephone networks. By providing advanced functions such as wireless Internet capability and the ability to link Internet Protocol and telephone networks, as well as other features like caller ID, automatic recall and call forwarding, SS7 technology is the most broadly deployed signalling technology in voice and wireless cellular networks.
Aitken explains that as DataKinetics technology works with products from Dialogic, the means for functions such as converged voice and data networking are provided. Included are IP telephony capabilities that allow phone calls over the Internet, the creation for voice portals (for accessing Web sites using voice commands) as well as Internet-based unified messaging platforms that bring voice, fax, email and other capabilities to a single client device.
"DataKinetics' comprehensive SS7 product line and outstanding engineering team will help our customers quickly and cost-effectively deploy next generation communications services," he continues.
