London- and Johannesburg-listed Dimension 's Datacraft unit has made a conditional offer to buy New Zealand-based Integral Axon Computer Systems, for an undisclosed amount.

The purchase is set to more than double the Datacraft New Zealand business in size and scale. Datacraft, which is wholly-owned by Dimension Data, operates in 13 Asia Pacific companies through its more than 60 offices in the region. It has about 1 500 staff and offers the same solutions as Dimension Data.

Dimension's Data's announcement that it has put in a conditional offer for Integral is the second acquisition that the company has announced in the space of a month, after saying in September that its UK division bought out Mvision for an undisclosed amount.

The dual-listed company is also in the process of being bought out by Japanese telecoms firm Telegraph and Telephone Corporation for R24.2 billion. Shareholders have until Monday to accept that offer and, so far, 79.7% have pledged their shares in favour of the bid.

Accelerating vision

Datacraft CEO Bill Padfield explains Integral Axon has invested in cloud services, which will accelerate Datacraft's medium- and long-term strategy in the cloud and software-as-a-service space.

Integral Axon Computer Systems is a privately-held New Zealand-based IT services company with gross assets of NZ$37.96 million, or about R196.2 million. The deal is expected to be wrapped up by the beginning of next month.

Datacraft New Zealand MD Robin Hartendorp says the deal will “reposition our value from an integrator to become an outsourcing in our chosen market segment - second tier enterprise outsourcing”.

Datacraft has been operating in New Zealand's outsourcing market for 30 years and offers communications as a service, applications development, and expertise in the network integration and services space.

Integral Axon is New Zealand's largest locally-owned, independent, privately held ICT services company with 360 staff members. It offers services such as onsite and outsourced managed services, system and network management and optimisation, IT , and a range of consulting services.
