Didata increases Microsoft skills base

Johannesburg, 10 Oct 2000

Dimension has extended its Microsoft skills base by being awarded partner level status in the Microsoft Certified Solution Provider (MCSP) program in the Western Cape, the only company in the region with this accreditation.

This strengthens the relationship between the two IT giants. Dimension Data, through its acquisition of TCO Integrators in November 1998 and subsequent growth of skills in the Microsoft and enterprise space, has the highest certified Microsoft professionals within a South African solution provider.

"Being awarded partner status demonstrates Microsoft`s confidence in Dimension Data Western Cape`s ability to successfully deploy solutions based on Microsoft platforms," says James Douglas, Microsoft product manager at Dimension Data Services Western Cape.

"We are pleased to have Dimension Data Western Cape aligned with us on a strategic, partner level and look forward to furthering our successful working relationship," adds Geoff ten Oever, partner manager Microsoft Cape Town.

"Dimension Data has the infrastructure and the skills to provide end to end solutions in this growing Microsoft market, with enterprise solutions being called for in increasing numbers," he says.

Dimension Data has already implemented Microsoft solutions at Old Mutual and Vodacom, amongst others, and is set to meet the increasing demand for Microsoft solutions in the Western Cape.

Dimension Data customers in South Africa can also leverage the group`s Microsoft skills in Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.

MCSP`s are considered one of the most important resources for enabling Microsoft solutions. These solution providers are provided with product licenses for internal and marketing use, extensive technical training and support, and access to pre-release product and program codes. The MCSP Program is designed to increase members` technical competency and business proficiency.

All MCSPs have a minimum of two Microsoft Certified Professionals on staff with proven expertise in developing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft-based solutions. Dimension Data Network Services in the Western Cape employs about 30 MCSE`s.
