Dual-listed IT services and solutions provider Dimension has acquired a controlling stake in Datacraft do Brazil.

According to a notice to shareholders yesterday, the 50.1% stake came by way of acquiring an additional 40.1% interest in Datacraft Americas Holdings, Datacraft do Brazil's holding company. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

The acquisition follows last month's announcement that it had sold its Sweden operation, for an undisclosed sum, to Cygate AB.

In a media statement yesterday, Dimension Data Americas CEO Jere Brown said Brazil was expected to be among the fastest-growing technology markets in Latin America. Acquiring the controlling interest in Datacraft do Brazil would enable the company to further penetrate key markets, expand its Americas footprint and drive new business and opportunities in the region, he noted.

Mauro Testa, head of finance and administration for Datacraft do Brazil, added: "Brazil is the world's 10th largest economy and, compared to other emerging countries, is extremely stable. Historically, Datacraft do Brazil has achieved a 30% year-on-year growth rate. With Dimension Data's expertise and reputation, coupled with world-renowned business partners including Cisco, Microsoft and Blue Coat Systems, we expect to significantly grow our presence in Brazil."

Dimension Data says Datacraft do Brazil will be renamed Dimension Data Brazil once the acquisition is complete.
