DigiPoS hits 10 000 mark

Johannesburg, 25 Feb 2004

The South African subsidiary of the DigiPoS Systems Group has announced sales of more than 10 000 systems within five years of introducing the brand to the local retail industry. This complements a total of almost 70 000 systems manufactured and sold by the global business since its UK inception in 1994.

DigiPoS Systems Group now operates across 12 countries worldwide and supplies cutting edge point-of-sale (POS) solutions to a multitude of well-known retailers including Circuit City (600 mega stores spanning North America), Spar (Europe) and New Clicks Holdings in SA. It also offers project management and engineering support services to compliment the DigiPoS hardware, now regarded as world-class technology.

DigiPoS products are designed specifically for harsh POS environments that are often very hot and humid or exposed to dust and dirt - conditions typically found in outlets such as pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. The products have been developed as open architecture solutions with modular design, using non-proprietary components, which provide a low lifetime cost to the end-user. They boast unique features such as remote diagnostics, powered serial ports and jet stream cooling, ensuring a plethora of third-party software development companies around the world will not deviate from DigiPoS as their standard hardware platform and offering.

Says local MD Paul Jules: "We offer the industry something quite unique, a retail hardened point-of-sale system that is comprehensively staged and prepared for installation at store level. The fact that we`ve sold so many systems here in such a short space of time bares testimony to the value we add and the high levels of personal service we`ve endeavoured to provide over the years.

"Being part of a fast-growing, global business has been a huge contributor to our local success, helping us to secure prestigious contracts with a number of Africa`s leading organizations - including New Clicks, Vodacom and Sasol. We now have a strong market share and presence in southern Africa, which gives us the foothold necessary to expand into other areas with DigiPoS such as petroleum forecourt and gaming applications as well as into other African territories," concludes Jules.
