Digital Mall, the e-commerce outsource partner for several leading South African retail brands, has signed up with the South African Certification Agency (SACA) as a reseller of its VeriSign Digital Certificates.
This will enable the company to provide world-class site authentication and 128-bit encryption security for retail clients listed on its Web site, www.DigitalMall.com says SACA's Marketing Executive of the Electronic Commerce Division of Comparex Holdings, Gerda Venter.
These already include well known brandings such as Incredible Connection, Look & Listen Music Warehouse, Flowerite, Nando's, Reggies and Toys 'R' Us, which have all opted to outsource, rather than manage their own on-line trading environment.
"When deciding on security certificates for our clients, the obvious choice was to partner with the market leader," says Digital Mall MD, Yaron Assabi.
The VeriSign digital certificates, distributed exclusively in Southern Africa by SACA, provide the essential element of trust needed to confidently engage in on-line trade by reliably authenticating identity in cyberspace as a backup to data encryption. The certificates, or Digital IDs, tie each users identity to a unique set of public keys using state of the art cryptography which is impossible to forge, hack or steal. Thus digitally secured data can only be opened and read by its intended recipient.
These have been deployed by Digital Mall on its own home page and on all client home pages, as well as on each link through onto the various retail sites. This means on-line shoppers can be sure they are dealing with a legitimate site, and also that personal and credit card details exchanged during on-line transactions will remain completely confidential, says Venter.
