Digital photos in an instant with the Canon CP100 from Pinnacle Micro

Johannesburg, 15 Apr 2002

Pinnacle Micro has announced availability of the Canon Card Photo Printer CP100 printer, which bypasses the need for a PC and connects directly to Canon`s range of digital cameras to produce high quality photos with ease.

According to Cathy Dollenberg, product sales manager for printing and digital imaging at Pinnacle Micro, the CP100 addresses the growing demand for high-quality digital photo printing both at home and in the office.

"We anticipate direct print to really gain momentum this year with Canon`s range of cameras and printers," she says. Dollenberg says the appeal lies in the simplicity of direct printing: "One simply connects the digital camera to a direct printer to produce high quality photos without the need for a PC."

Dollenberg says the CP100 offers print size flexibility, handling 10x15 cm prints, credit card size media and stickers. "10x15 cm is the most popular size for traditional photos allowing the digital prints to be stored in a traditional photo album," she notes.

The CP100 uses dye-sublimation technology to create photographs with millions of colours. The printer builds up a full colour image by merging three separate colour layers; yellow, magenta and cyan, and then applies a protective layer that adds the durability of a traditional print. The CP100 produces photo quality prints that look and feel like a traditional silver halide print.

"With the CP100, producing a digital image is as easy as following three steps. Connect the Canon digital camera to the printer by means of a dedicated cable, select the image from the automatic menu and press `print` to generate a high quality photograph in just over 80 seconds," explains Dollenberg.

The CP100 features a translucent blue and metallic case and provides true mobility with an optional rechargeable battery pack. "Additionally, a PC/Mac computer connection kit will soon be available allowing users to print pictures stored on their PC," adds Dollenberg.

The CP100 is compatible with Canon`s latest digital cameras, PowerShot A100, A30, A40, G2 Black, A10, A20, S30, S40, G2, IXUS v, IXUS 300.
