Digium eyes fixed-mobile convergence
FMC enables users to connect up to six different phones of any kind, regardless of the manufacturer, model, or underlying technology, according to Digium.
This means users can set their extensions to ring on any analogue, digital, IP, or smartphone, with seamless control over call answering, recording, routing and transferring.
“Presence is maintained no matter what type of phone you are using,” says Tristan Barnum, product line director for Switchvox. He explains this enables co-workers to know when their colleagues are on a call, states Channel Partners.
According to CRN, Digium has extended the application programming interfaces in Switchvox, to make integration with third-party business applications easier.
It has also introduced a graphical user interface stronger online support, and additional failover options for Switchvox communications.
The Switchvox platform was developed several years ago by a same-named independent company based on Digium's Asterisk open source PBX, says Fierce VOIP.
Digium later acquired Switchvox and has turned the platform into a multi-talented unified communications system for a market segment that is touted to hold potential for VOIP adoption.
