Dimension Data in top gear at Tech.Ed

Johannesburg, 18 Oct 2010

Durban Tech.Ed is openly acknowledged as the event of the year when it comes to in-depth insight into Microsoft technology. Those lucky enough to attend the event, hosted this year at the ICC, in Durban, from 17 to 20 October, will be looking forward to seeing some cutting-edge advancements all along the Microsoft stack.

This provides the ideal platform for Dimension Data to demonstrate once again why it is this year's winner of the Microsoft Unified Communications Solutions Partner of the Year, leaving all other contenders in the dust.

Unified Communications and Collaboration (or UC&C) is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing technologies in the IT space. Driven by the need for business to be better connected than ever before, and offer users and customers alike the choice of how and when they want to communicate, UC&C is changing the way we do business.

The primary purpose of UC&C is to integrate the diverse and multi-layered communications landscape, providing an intelligent means of creating richer, more meaningful engagements. It also provides an excellent vehicle for powering productivity, accelerating agility and driving down complexity and costs.

The UC&C phenomenon has given rise to a number of offerings specially engineered to support the emerging UC&C environment, including Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) and Microsoft Lync. These next generation products are geared towards creating presence and promoting effective collaboration and sharing of information.

With anytime, anywhere connectivity such a prized commodity, Dimension Data has opted to use its stand at Tech.Ed to take conventional thinking around UC&C out of the box entirely by taking it out onto the road. Its innovative and fully interactive display will host a fully equipped Mini Cooper, sporting a complete UC&C solution, including all the necessary hardware, Windows 7, Microsoft Lync and full voice and visual communication capabilities. Slipping into the driver's seat of this office on wheels will be taking remote availability to the next level.

For the duration of Tech.Ed, Dimension Data will be showcasing the benefits that an OCS-equipped car can potentially deliver through a series of expert demonstrations. Tech.Ed visitors will also have the opportunity to interact with the vehicle on display for a first-hand experience of the power of perhaps the best example ever of mobile unified communications.

In conjunction with UC&C, virtualisation and cloud computing are among the most talked about technologies on the IT executive's agenda. In addition to the Mini Cooper, which incidentally will also be enabled to access any cloud service with its integrated computing power, Dimension Data will provide further insight on what cloud computing means to business today.

Those unable to attend the event won't miss out entirely. Please feel free to visit http://www.dimensiondata.com/TechEd or contact daniel.collett@za.didata.com for more information around the technology on offer.
