Dimension Data increases shareholding in Brazil operation

Brings group's shareholding to controlling 50.1%
Johannesburg, 03 May 2007

Dimension Data, a $3.1 billion global IT solutions and services provider, today announced it has acquired an additional 40.1% interest in Datacraft Americas Holdings, the 100% holding company of Datacraft do Brazil, for an undisclosed amount.

This brings the Dimension Data Group's shareholding to a controlling 50.1%. Upon completion of the acquisition, Datacraft do Brazil will be renamed Dimension Data Brazil.

Jere Brown, CEO of Dimension Data Americas, says Brazil is expected to be among the fastest-growing technology markets in Latin America and will enable Dimension Data to further penetrate key markets, expand its Americas footprint, and drive new business and opportunities in the region.

"Datacraft do Brazil has for some time been the group's de facto presence in Brazil, playing a key role servicing some of Dimension Data's important global clients. In addition, through offices in Sao Paulo and Curitiba, it has represented the group with Cisco in the region.

"Datacraft do Brazil's expertise, specifically in the areas of networking, converged communications and security, also fits well with Dimension Data's strategic local and global market offerings," says Brown, who points out that the group has maintained a strong relationship with Datacraft do Brazil's management over the past five years.

Mauro Testa, head of finance and administration for Datacraft do Brazil, comments: "Brazil is the world's 10th largest economy, and compared to other emerging countries is extremely stable. Historically, Datacraft do Brazil has achieved a 30% year-on-year growth rate. With Dimension Data's expertise and reputation, coupled with world-renowned business partners including Cisco, Microsoft and Blue Coat Systems, we expect to significantly grow our presence in Brazil."

Dimension Data has enjoyed a long relationship with Cisco. The development of the Brazilian operation will further solidify this partnership and play an important role in delivering world-class networking, converged communications, security, storage and contact centre solutions and services to its Latin America clients.
