Dimension Data launches next version of Dynamic Desktop Deployment solution with support for X64 bit Windows desktop operation systems

Award-winning deployment solution integrates Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager 2007.
Johannesburg, 14 Nov 2007

Dimension Data, a $3.1 billion global IT solutions and services provider, today announced its support of the Microsoft System Centre family of IT management solutions, with the launch of the next version of its award-winning Dynamic Desktop Deployment solution, integrated with Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager 2007.

Dimension Data participated in the Microsoft TechEd IT Forum, in Barcelona, where Microsoft Corp announced the availability of its System Centre Configuration Manager 2007, System Centre Virtual Machine Manager 2007 and System Centre Data Protection Manager 2007.

Rob Lopez, Group Managing Director of Solutions at Dimension Data, says; "Dimension Data has been working with Microsoft`s System Centre Configuration Manager team for over three years. Based on our skill and expertise in this space, we have extended Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager with ITIL best practices to provide clients with a comprehensive systems management approach."

The new version of Dynamic Desktop Deployment integrates key enhancements and features that ship with the new Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager product, including a standard approach to desktop deployment, irrespective of client operating system, the simplification of state migration tasks and the automation of other deployment activities through the task sequencer.

"Dimension Data is in the process of completing a global deployment project for a Fortune 500 client, based on Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager 2007. We are seeing a dramatic increase in the level of deployment flexibility, and management control for the organisation," adds Lopez, and he points out that Dimension Data will continue to work with Microsoft to deliver best practice knowledge with new and exciting solutions for infrastructure management to its clients.

"We have invested heavily in System Centre Configuration Manager 2007 to extend our leadership position in desktop management, with a real focus on automating the end-to-end process associated with deploying client operating systems," said Eric Berg, director of product management for System Centre at Microsoft Corporation.

"We are pleased to be working with Dimension Data both on product development and in client engagements and are excited that their integration of System Centre Configuration Manager into the new version of Dynamic Desktop Deployment will bring great value to our joint customers."

Dimension Data also announced it had integrated Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager with other solution offerings around software asset management and server management. This follows their announcement earlier this year, indicating their progress aligning System Centre Operations Manager 2007 into its Global Services Operations Architecture (GSOA), the platform for delivering remote management of Microsoft infrastructure from its global service centres.
