Dimension Data is Oracle SA`s top new and most advanced partner for 2000, with a 100 percent increase in Oracle sales revenue.
"Dimension Data has steamed past the competition [122 other partners]," says Mark Smissen, global strategic alliances manager at Oracle. "In the year under review, Dimension Data displayed outstanding growth, with a 100 percent increase in Oracle sales and a threefold increase in the size of its Oracle business unit.
"If Dimension Data carry on in the same vein they are well on track to being recognised as Oracle`s best partner next year," he says.
Donald Stuart, Oracle business unit manager at Dimension Data i-Commerce Software, says: "We`ve partnered with Oracle to offer true end-to-end e-business infrastructure and services.
"Oracle clearly grasps the Internet architecture for the new economy, and the company`s solution set is well rounded off. These solutions provide a 100 percent fit with our global e-commerce model," he says.
Through the partnership, Dimension Data is combining Oracle`s world leading, best of breed e-business suite, with the Group`s in-depth systems integration skills for an effective e-business offering.
Although Dimension Data has been involved with Oracle in the past, it is only in the last year that Oracle has redefined its partner program, resulting in Dimension Data becoming an alliance partner.
Smissen says Oracle has made the entrance criteria to the partner program stricter but the partners receive greater benefits. In addition, the Oracle systems certification program is now internationally recognised.
At the Oracle Excellence Awards ceremony held recently, Dimension Data also received an official certificate award - `Oracle Certified Technology Partner for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)`.
"This award recognises that Dimension Data has the capability to work with Oracle`s core technology range, and is self sufficient in terms of licensing, support, maintenance, development and post sales support for these products," says Smissen.
"There are less than 20 Oracle Certified Technology Partners for EMEA so it`s quite an achievement in such a short timeframe," he says. "More companies fail to make this certification, which is based on a company`s investment in Oracle skills, than succeed.
