Seven months after entering the competitive United States market, Dimension has scooped a top award for Technology Services in the Tri-State region.

This follows Dimension Data US being awarded prestigious Cisco Gold Partner Certification last month, making the Group one the of the first and interactive integration and services companies to achieve this status on five continents.

The latest award - the 2000 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award - was presented ton the CEO of Dimension Data`s operations in the North-Eastern US, Bernie Mikula, as well as his vice presidents, Paul Ferraro and Eric Williams.

According to Bruce Watson, chief executive, Dimension Data network services, Mikula, Ferraro and Williams play a key role in the roll-out of the Group`s network in the US.

The three now go forward to the National Young Entrepreneur Awards to he held in Palm Spring, California, in November. Previous winners of the award reads like a Who`s Who of entrepreneurial success including the founders of Amazon.com, Starbucks, QUALCOMM, eBay, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Best Buy.

"This award is a tremendous honour for Dimension Data as the tri-State region is one of the fastest growing in the US. Of every $1 of the $40-billion currently spent on venture capital in the country, 22c is pumped into this area which includes New England and update New York. To put the size of the region in context, the value of the network market there is at least seven times that of the entire network market in South Africa.

"It`s also a clear indication that Dimension Data is beginning to make its mark in the United States and, with the calibre of talent we have there, augurs well for the Group`s future," Watson concludes.
