Oracle, the largest provider of software for e-business, projects that Dimension Data, leading global network services and i-commerce solution provider, will shortly become one of its largest global partners.
According to Craig Dawson, channel marketing manager at Oracle SA, Dimension Data`s market share within the Oracle space has grown phenomenally within a short timeframe. "Since the partnership began almost two years ago Dimension Data has built up substantial competency and skills within the Oracle environment.
"The company was named as Oracle SA`s top new partner of the year in 2000, based on revenue, and is already one of Oracle`s largest partners in South Africa - a remarkable achievement."
Speaking at a Dimension Data Oracle Support event, Dawson said: "I can`t emphasise enough the growth and push from Dimension Data to be a global player in the Oracle market."
He says Oracle wants to be an overall solutions provider and not just "plugged in" as a software partner for corporates. "This is why Dimension Data fits so well with the Oracle global strategy."
Oracle has stringent partner criteria and Dimension Data has met these. "It is not easy to become an Oracle partner, but as one of the newest, Dimension Data`s revenue is growing at such a rapid speed that it has generated the most sales for Q2- 2001," he says.
In one of Dimension Data`s global projects, electronic and industrial components distributor Premier Farnell is utilising Dimension Data`s skills to move from a paper- based company to an e- procurement driven, customer centric organisation.
As databases are mission critical to companies operating in fields such as Premier Farnell, Dimension Data`s Oracle expertise is vital to the success of the project.
According to Donald Stuart, general manager: Oracle business unit at Dimension Data i-Commerce, a key element has been Dimension Data`s extensive database and application specialists skills, involving analysis, development, testing and implementation of the Oracle environment.
"For example our database administrators (DBAs) and application specialists rotate to ensure not only that problem identification is more effective, but that the client is able to benefit from the depth, expertise and intellectual capital inherent to the Oracle business unit," says Stuart.
