Dion has implemented a pilot digital storefront window display at the Northgate Shopping Mall, which may replace the goods displays traditionally used by retailers.
The system is made up of two 203cm, high-resolution screens that can display output from a variety of multimedia formats.
Implementation company Digital Communication Services (DCS) says the pilot, as an entry-level system, is only the beginning for this technology.
One of the possible enhancements is the use of window touch-screen technology that will allow customers to browse the retailer`s goods without entering the store, the company explains.
An audio component that converts the glass panel into a speaker is available.
Stores can make use of a content management system for these displays through data casting. This enables retailers to create content and feed it to each store`s digital displays using terrestrial or satellite networks, DCS states.
