Direct Group improves printing tech

Direct Group has acquired two new Canon ImagePress C7000 presses, reports WhatTheyThink.

The equipment is designed to support just-in-time, short-term printing runs and fulfilment; highly targeted, variable print-on-demand campaigns; and Web-to-print solutions for Direct Group clients.

The equipment`s ability to address smaller, four-color print runs is a key feature for highly regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals, insurance and financial services.

Xerox gets US Navy contract

Xerox has received a contract worth $93 million from the US Navy for the onboard document needs in support of its entire fleet of 283 vessels, reports TradingMarkets.

The contract includes installation, custom mounting, training, supplies and dedicated worldwide for nearly 3 000 multifunction and production devices, as well as printer .

The Xerox Deployable Support Group includes 51 worldwide services support personnel. It supplies sailors with onboard black-and-white and colour printing technology, and is responsible for maintaining and supporting the equipment.

NAVTEQ map data selected

NAVTEQ has been selected by Intelligent Direct to provide map data for use in its CASS-certified US Postal Carrier Route Boundaries, reports CNN Money.

Intelligent Direct, through its MarketMAPS and GbBIS divisions, produces printed maps and mapping solutions covering the United States, Canada and countries around the world.

With the launch of CASS-certified Carrier Route Boundaries, Intelligent Direct is now able to provide direct marketers with a cost-effective method to improve the deliverability of their mail.
