NetTrace (Pty) Ltd, exclusive distributor of Computrace Inventory Management and security products in SA, has been contracted by Discovery Franchise to help manage its computer workstations from a total cost of ownership (TCO) perspective.
NetTrace has combined unique patented technology, from Absolute Software Corporation in Canada, with locally developed database integration technology, to provide an innovative TCO solution.
Database integration between the lease vendor and the customer`s real-time computer inventory, allow NetTrace to provide Discovery Franchise cost centre managers country-wide with accurate information about how much their PC fleeting is costing them on a monthly basis.
Due to the dynamic nature of the product and processes set-up inside the business, the system will adapt to the ever-changing PC asset base automatically.
Cost centres will now be billed only for what they use, and finance head office as well as the cost centre managers themselves, are now able to double-check each other. Mark Adamson (Project Manager) and Alan Golding (Finance Manager) have been the key drivers behind spearheading the solution at Discovery Franchise.
"There were some challenges with implementing the process and the solution, as there always is when you try something new, but we now have a clear view of where our PC IT spend is going, and who is using it." says Adamson.
Discovery Franchise has chosen to lease its PCs through RentWorks, and is thus able to ascertain a very accurate picture (all the way down to the software licensing and warrantee) about how much a workstation is costing the business.
"We have been leasing our assets with RentWorks, and this has many advantages. The trick is to maintain an accurate and up-to-date view about where your leased assets are located and which ones are due to be returned in the near future. This has allowed us to optimise our leasing model and draw true advantages out of complexity," says Golding.
NetTrace has partnered and integrated with RentWorks to offer this solution to all its customers. The product`s Web-based architecture allows NetTrace to become an application service provider to companies with multiple braches nationally. This helps to drive implementation times down, while reducing network and setup complications. Based on local successes, NetTrace plans to deploy this simple, yet effective, product throughout SA and other regions around the world.
