Diskeeper defrags across entire Windows 95/98/NT network

Johannesburg, 08 Feb 1999

Executive Software, the developer of system management tools for the enterprise, has announced development of a new version of its Diskeeper defragmenter providing automatic defragmentation for the Windows 95/98 platform. The new version will enable network administrators to remotely schedule and control disk defragmentation on all Windows 32-bit desktops: Windows 95/98 and NT.

Dave Terespolsky, MD of local Executive Software distributor Server Tools, says: "Many corporates have mixed networks with both Windows NT and Windows 95/98 running. They`ve told us they wish they could control defragmentation and increase performance on Windows 95/98 clients as easily as Diskeeper 4.0 enables them to maintain peak performance for Windows NT. This new version of Diskeeper does that.

"Lack of disk maintenance is the most common cause of system failures and slow performance. But network administrators don`t want to spend their time manually defragmenting several hundred different Windows PCs throughout their offices or pay someone to do it."

Diskeeper is the original "Set It and Forget It" disk defragmenter and was developed from the ground up for Windows NT. Recently Microsoft included a manual version of Diskeeper within the Windows NT 5.0 (Windows 2000) operating system itself. The new Diskeeper versions, scheduled to ship in the first quarter, can intelligently detect which Windows operating system is in use and install the correct version.
