Disney to buy EA?
Has the hunter become the hunted? Electronic Arts, which pursued GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive for much of 2008, may now be an acquisition target of Disney, says Game Politics.
According to financial Web site The Motley Fool, the Wall Street Journal's (WSJ's) Heard on the Street column suggested yesterday that Disney might be eyeing EA.
The WSJ apparently based its speculation on comments made by Disney's CFO during a conference call last week.
Gaming economy performs well
It appears that the videogame market did quite well for what is typically the biggest shopping month of the year, reports IGN.
The industry as a whole grew 10% over 2007, rising from $2.64 billion in sales to $2.91 billion in total sales for this November.
The same goes for videogame hardware sales, which were up 10% from $1.1 billion to 1.21 billion, as well as videogame software, which is up 11% from $1.31 billion to $1.45 billion.
Fallout 3 gets an upgrade
Bethesda Softworks parted the curtain on its upcoming plans for its best-selling post-apocalyptic role-playing game Fallout 3, writes Gamespot.
Bethesda said it would roll out a trio of downloadable add-ons for the Xbox 360 and PC editions of the game in the new year, adding new quests and storylines to Megaton City.
Predating those premium content updates, however, the game maker also makes available the free-to-download Fallout 3 level editor for the PC.
