Disney and ABC`s two-month free TV trial, in which four popular series will be broadcast online, kicked off this weekend, but the service is only available to US viewers.

Episodes of Commander in Chief, Desperate Housewives, Lost, and the entire season of Alias will be available throughout May and June, says Disney in a statement.

Media releases had previously indicated the programming would be accessible throughout the world, as Anne Sweeney, president of the Disney-ABC television group said: "[We will] ensure that our high-quality, informative and entertaining content is available to consumers whenever and wherever they choose."

The ABC free TV landing page, however, includes the disclaimer: "Only viewers within the US can watch these full-length episodes."

Mike Shaw, president of sales and marketing at ABC, explains the business model: "We have said all along that we are dedicated to finding ways to bring our advertiser along with us as we embrace new ways of doing business in the world of media."

Viewers will be able to pause and move between 'chapters` in an episode, but will not be able to skip ads that are technically embedded.
