Superior picture quality, advanced functions and improved expandability. These are the key performance differentiators that have elevated the latest Panasonic plasma display screens to a new league, securing the brand`s industry leadership status in this sector in terms of advanced technology, innovative specifications and functionality.
Available on the South African market from September, the six new models feature:
* Improved panel performance, enabled by a new, brighter multi-facet asymmetrical configuration hyper pixel (MACH) panel that brings out new levels of "plasma reality". Includes a new Real Black Drive System, delivering the industry^1s highest contrast ratio of 4 000:1; a new Real Gamma System, achieving 1024 shades of gradation and a flicker-free, high quality picture; and MACH Digital Contour Enhancer, reproducing vivid, life-like images.
* Improved functions, including multi-picture display that allows two images to be displayed simultaneously in a choice of three options; a nine-point digital zoom function that gives the option of 2x or 3x image enlargement; and built-in image-enlarging function that simplifies multi-screen display (2x2 or 3x3). Front button OSD controls are complemented by automatic power saving options, while the plasma contrast automatic tracking system (CATS) automatically adjusts the picture contrast according to the ambient lighting.
* Improved expansion capability, where the option of three interchangeable input slots allows different combinations of optional terminal boards (eg 1 x VCR, 2 x DVD players; or 3 x PCs for multiple presentations).
There are also five selectable screen-saving mechanisms, designed to minimise the risk of uneven phosphor aging. There`s a white bar scroll for standard still-image displays; screen reversal for text-screen displays; side panel adjustment for 4:3 images, where grey cells are generated at the edges to facilitate even burning of the display; and peak limit mode, which reduces white peak level.
"Optional touch-screen operation is available on certain models," says Freddie Potgieter, Divisional Manager: Panasonic Office Automation, IT and Telecommunications Systems. "This is ideal for plasma display screens used for business presentation purposes, with your finger serving as the mouse on the plasma screen. Installation of the option is easy and quick, including software supplied for this purpose and a PDP connection."
