Do you know what and who is connecting to your network?

Cape Town, 03 Nov 2014

Network visibility and control is a big challenge for organisations today, especially those who have multi-site environments. They have serious problems with "unauthorised device" access e.g. someone plugging a 'rogue' device (e.g. their own laptop, PC, wireless router etc) into a network port and causing massive issues; viruses, access to the internal network, DHCP server etc.

In order to address these problems and prevent "cyber attacks", organisations are screaming out for the following:

Visibility - To accurately and easily identify what is on their multi-site networks:

* Device "endpoints" connected to the network
* Information including:
* User
* IP address
* Mac address
* Device type (e.g. a printer, CCTV, VOIP, laptop, IPad)
* Location: Building/site, network switch, switch port, access point
* Time: Connect and disconnect
* Whether the device is authorised or not "a rogue"

Control ? Alert and provide rapid "automated" response if an unknown "unauthorised" device is connected to the network:

* Alert IT staff that a "rogue" device has connected to the network
* Identify its location, device type, IP and Mac address
* Automated action:
* Disable the device's network access
* Alert the offending user

Simplified Device Management - Enable a dynamic approach to device management

* Automate network access for specific device types e.g. a VOIP handset - dynamically assign the "voice" VLAN anywhere on your network without manual IT intervention
* Identify missing assets e.g. someone has moved a printer to a different location
* Identify stolen devices e.g. a device has been stolen and has been connected back into the network
* Ensure all of your devices are up to date with the latest anti-virus, anti-spyware and operating system; alert IT helpdesk should a device fall out of compliance
