PC-WARE, a Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR), reported that it has strengthened its position within the area of Microsoft Licensing and Software Asset Management by being awarded the contract for Large Account Reseller and Enterprise Software Advisor for the next three years for the Department of Justice & Constitutional Development.
Maurice Staal, Managing Director of PC-WARE, explains: "PC-WARE was selected after an evaluation of a number of Large Account Resellers. The focus of PC-WARE is on personalised and professional service delivery. Furthermore, we provide various tools to the customer to create licensing transparency and report compliance and make the management of software licences cost-effective."
Thabo Sakasa, Director: IT Infrastructure & Software Assets at the DOJ and CD, comments: "The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development spends significant financial resources on software assets, and expectations are high with the appointment of PC-WARE in relation to an efficient and effective software asset management programme."
Staal adds: "One of the key benefits to the Department of Justice to manage their software licences is our unique DNA, which can be used in combination with the various software asset management tools, such as SMS and Altiris. We have created in South Africa a niche market through this in-house-developed and maintained software DNA database, able to cleanse raw data and recognise 23 000 applications from 4 000 vendors."
The database is maintained and extended quarterly, based on footprints received from the global central licensing desk. As a result of this, PC-WARE is able to identify software products of all vendors, compare installed software with the existing software contracts, report compliance status and identify saving potentials.
The Department of Justice has approximately 15 000 users on the network. PC-WARE will manage all Microsoft Licences and will add value through additional service delivery. PC-WARE is providing its customer Portal, Procerva to create transparency on licences procured and it will provide an overview of all existing software agreements. Furthermore, the different branches and business units can view products, request quotes and place orders online, with defined workflow approval processes and individual user access rights.
PC-WARE's market share is rapidly growing in South Africa, as customers recognise the personal and professional service delivery, with an excellent back-office and with all the various tools available to make software asset management easy, transparent and cost-effective.
