Multimedia Warehouse, a division of Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) and member of the Siltek IT Supply Chain Group, has announced Dragon NaturallySpeaking Mobile Organizer, a voice recognition solution for anyone who's PC or laptop might not be readily at hand.
"Mobile Organizer is a complete speech recognition system for people on the move. It provides an easy, fast and natural way to capture your thoughts while on the move," says Jaco Laubscher, product manager at Multimedia Warehouse.
The product includes Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred software, the ergonomic, hand-held Dragon NaturallyMobile digital recorder specifically designed for speech recognition, linking software and a high-quality headset microphone for use with a PC.
"The Dragon NaturallyMobile recorder holds up to 40 minutes of continuous speech in its built-in memory, and up to 80 additional minutes on available removable memory cards," says Laubscher.
"All the user has to do is press 'Record' and speak naturally into the recorder. To review your dictation, it can be played back using the built-in speaker. Once back at the office, the recorder can be simply attached to your PC and by hitting 'Transcribe', your dictation is automatically sent to the relevant application."
Dragon Systems speech recognition software will automatically update your PIM, Contact Management or Groupware applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Palm Desktop, ACT! and GoldMine. It can also turn recorded speech into e-mail, appointments, reminders, notes and plain text. "By stating 'Create an e-mail' Dragon's Organizer will transcribe the subsequent speech and interpret it as an e-mail item, for example. It automatically finds the recipients e-mail address from your address book and creates an e-mail with the appropriate subject and body text," explains Laubscher.
Once approved, the e-mail will be sent automatically. The same level of automation also holds true for calendar entries and reminders. "The package further includes a cable to connect the recorder to your PC serial port and batteries for use with the recorder, providing a complete mobile dictation solution to ensure the productivity gains of voice recognition are not limited to desktop-bound users," he concludes.
