Facebook's messaging service, Messenger, will soon integrate Dropbox support. This will allow users to share Dropbox files directly from Facebook Messenger.
"Now, when you tap the more button in Messenger for iOS or Android, you'll see Dropbox as an available source. With the Dropbox app installed on your phone, you can share any file in your Dropbox without having to leave the Messenger app," DJ Chung, from Dropbox, said in a blog post.
The Dropbox files, including pictures, video and GIFs, will be displayed directly in the chat. Other file types, like documents, will have to be clicked on to open within the Dropbox app.
Content can be shared with any Messenger user; they do not have to be friends on Facebook. Both users must have Messenger and Dropbox installed on their devices.
Last week, Messenger announced it had reached 900 million monthly active users and over a billion messages are sent across the platform each month.
The social network says it will start focusing more on using the app for business interactions. "Messaging a business directly is a fast and convenient way for people to get in touch with questions about products and services, appointments, customer service and more," Facebook said in a statement.
In March, Dutch airline company KLM launched a bot on the service that allows passengers to check-in, get boarding passes and change flight details within the app.
