
Dubai intros iPad e-billing app
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has rolled out an Apple iPad application that provides e-billing services to its customers, reports AME Info.
The ePay application is free to download from Apple's Store and is part of Dewa's strategy to give its customers services including information and electronic payment.
Users will be able to enquire about consumption bills for the services provided by Dewa, including electricity, water, and housing fees. They can also pay for the services through the ePay system in collaboration with Dubai e-government.
Recession fuels Bulgarian e-commerce
The economic crisis has led to an increase in online shopping in Bulgaria, states Novinite.com
According to the Bulgarian Association for Online Trade, there has been a rise in sales on the Internet despite tough financial times because Bulgarian online stores can provide larger discounts for their customers and savings in storage costs.
The association claims between 20% and 30% of Bulgarians shop online; however, only 10% of online sales are carried out using electronic payment.
Mastercard, Smart Hub partner
MasterCard Worldwide and Smart Hub have formed a joint venture to mobilise payment solutions, says TMCnet.
The partnership brings together Smart Hub's mobile payments platform and MasterCard's network and electronic payments system in order to establish a mobile payments infrastructure for developing economies.
Deal Rationale is the joint venture between MasterCard and Smart Hub and aims to expand the mobile payments marketplace.
