Rabobank, the Netherlands`s largest banking group with over nine million customers, has chosen to use the VSP desktop management solution from PreWorX for eventual deployment through its 400 European branches and offices, in a deal which will ultimately be worth several million Rand.
"This is another major breakthrough in our strategy of moving local technology into international markets, coming as it does on the back of the deal we struck with software giant Novell" says Rhys Taylor, sales & marketing director of Pretoria-based technology development company PreWorX.
Rabobank is the market leader in virtually all sectors of financial services in the Netherlands. The Group has specialised businesses engaged in leasing, trade finance, insurance, asset management, venture capital, private banking, corporate and investment banking.
PreWorX Solutions in Holland, was contracted late last year by Rabobank to implement VSP into their corporate network providing system administrators with the ability to manage over 1500 workstations from anywhere in the LAN or WAN environment.
"Rabobank is expecting significant savings on technical support and travel expenses as well increased service levels to their users," continues Taylor. With Rabobank able to leverage off Intel technology as a distribution mechanism, VSP was ideally suited to supply advanced remote capabilities to the desktop across a corporate-wide implementation.
"VSP starts working at the operating system absent level of the PC`s start-up cycle to manage or diagnose hardware and distribute or repair software on individual PC`s" says Taylor. "Due to the small software footprint of the client technology (30Kbytes) it is deployed with ease across most networks with minimal impact on bandwidth. This knocks the socks off conventional desktop management systems that require client software installs of anything from one to eight Megabytes, and cannot be used if the operating system fails".
