Duxbury backs NetApp, Microsoft initiative

Johannesburg, 20 May 2005

Duxbury Networking, the local NetApp distributor, has embraced NetApp`s global initiative to integrate its data storage solutions with new Microsoft technology in the form of Windows iSCSI Initiator 2.0.

According to Andy Robb, a technology specialist at Duxbury, the initiative will assist users to better leverage Windows storage investments for increased simplicity, performance and scalability of Windows server solutions - including Exchange Server, SQL Server and SharePoint Services.

"NetApp is among the first vendors to support Microsoft`s latest version of its iSCSI Initiator," says Robb. "We are encouraged by this, as it will enable Duxbury to assist its resellers to design powerful Internet Protocol storage area networks [SANs] and similar unified solutions for enterprise-class deployments."

He says the NetApp support of Windows iSCSI Initiator version 2.0 includes several advancements that will help users to take advantage of their existing Windows investments to improve the IT value and operational efficiency of their networked storage systems.

"In partnership with NetApp in SA and a number of our resellers skilled in systems integration, we are poised to pilot test a number of applications that enable robust and effective Microsoft SAN deployments," he adds.
