Duxbury Networking appointed Axis distributor

Johannesburg, 22 Aug 2011

Duxbury Networking is to distribute the Axis range of IP-based surveillance and remote monitoring camera offerings, targeting both small to medium-size businesses (SMEs) and the enterprise market.

“The Axis range is an ideal complement to our portfolio,” says Duxbury Networking CEO, Graham Duxbury. “With the addition of management software, network integration and video data storage options, we are able to offer comprehensive surveillance solutions for a wide range of applications in small retail shops, large office environments and to customers in the education sector.”

Duxbury says digital video surveillance currently represents only 20% of the market, but is expanding rapidly and will overtake analogue options, as the benefits of optional system additions such as automated management and analytics become evident.

“For example, users who, in addition to their security requirements, need to determine traffic patterns in shopping malls, identify busy times, perform headcounts at events, or identify individuals through biometric evaluation, will find such systems a boon for their businesses,” he says.

“At Duxbury Networking we will leverage our expertise in network design and data storage - uncommon in the mass distribution arena - to support our reseller network in introducing benefits of the Axis brand to the marketplace.”

Roy Alves, country manager for Axis Communications SA, says his company is driving the ongoing shift from analogue to digital video surveillance. “We offer future-proof, IP-based surveillance solutions that deliver HDTV image quality,” he says.

“We welcome Duxbury Networking as a distributor of our products in sub-Saharan Africa. We will offer Duxbury-accredited dealers a broad choice from several different Axis solutions to best meet their customers' individual needs.

“Key features of our range include discreet fixed dome cameras with motion detection, audio detection and detection of camera tampering attempts, such as blocking or spray-painting,” adds Alves.
