The latest DVD releases on the market enable users to enjoy enhanced DVD entertainment on a PC or TV. For example, the clarity and colour of DVD movies can be viewed with PC-DVD Encore 12X with Dxr3 technology, from Creative Technology.
This ultimate DVD player, with CD access, enables high-resolution, DVD imagery, cinema-like Dolby Digital (AC-3) or DTS multi-channel surround audio.
According to Rui Pereira business manager at Rectron, the local distributor for Creative Technology, high quality DVD video is achieved with the Dxr3 DVD decoder board which uses advanced techniques to process colour video at high resolutions and generate exceptional image quality.
"The movie experience can be further enhanced by connecting the Dxr3 decoder to a receiver or the DeskTop Theater DTT2500 Digital speaker system for six-speaker, Dolby Digital audio playback," Pereira says.
In addition the newly released 16X speed DVD-ROM drive from AOpen enables a high transfer rate of DVD media up to 22160 KB/sec. This drive, the DVD-1640 Pro, provides leading performance of 16X DVD-ROM and 40X CD-ROM functions.
Additional enhancements, he says, include the digital servo mechanism and CAV technology which keeps the drive on track, DDS (Dynamic Damping System) to soak up vibration to minimise error and improve the stability of reading of CD or DVD formats.
