DVT acquires local software development company Solutional

Johannesburg, 14 Jul 2005

DVT, a black-empowered provider of business systems solutions, has acquired Solutional, a Proudly South African company and Microsoft Certified Partner, for an undisclosed amount.

DVT has been a value-added reseller of Radical for the past year, in what has proven to be a successful business partnership between the two companies. The next logical step was for the two companies to become one integrated team where core competencies could be leveraged, scales of economy exploited and sales initiatives streamlined.

Solutional`s business management and call centre software, Radical, has been successfully implemented at more than 60 South African companies over the past four years.

The most prominent Radical implementation to date is in the Standard Bank FICA call centre, where more than 140 concurrent seats have been in operation for the past eight months, handling over 3 million calls in the process.

Due to the flexibility of Radical through its Package Editor and Forms Designer, the product can address many vertical market application requirements.

"Building on our solid foundation, DVT has been on an aggressive growth drive this year," says Derek Hughes, CEO of DVT Gauteng. "We have recruited some of the best talent in the local market and this acquisition is merely the next step in the execution of our strategy.

"DVT and Solutional are both complementary and synergistic: we both provide customised business solutions to our clients and use similar skills to do so: software developers, business analysts and project managers."

Ross Field, development manager at Solutional, says: "Solutional is delighted that negotiations have been successfully concluded with DVT. We have confidence in the directors of DVT and the visionary nature of the company as a whole. We feel that this acquisition will give Radical greater visibility in the market and elevated product sales going forward."

Founded in 1999, DVT has a track record of delivering integrated custom solutions. DVT also provides business process management solutions, is a reseller of Metastorm e-Work, a leading business process management software solution; and Replicon`s Web Timesheet, an automated timesheet and expense management solution.

"We will be relocating both companies to common premises this month and will be operating as one business under the DVT banner going forward," says Hughes. "We will, however, retain Radical as the product brand. Customers using Radical can be assured that DVT will leverage our skills base and other resources to further grow the market and deliver even better Radical solutions."

The merged DVT Gauteng/Solutional entity will total more than 25 people, with a combined client base of 50 and forecast annual revenues of R10 million. DVT Gauteng on its own had doubled in size this year, while nationally DVT is enjoying 30% annual growth.
