DVT Gauteng, the local developer of Radical, has released the latest version of its home-grown software, boosting customer relationship management, workflow control and flexibility.
Radical, now in its fifth version, is a highly customisable, Microsoft-based business tool that provides business intelligence functionality throughout an organisation`s operations and a database that moulds to the particular business processes and practices of each organisation.
"With the release of Radical v5, DVT continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhance the product; provide customers with greater features designed to significantly improve their help-desk operations; better manage their sophisticated workflows; and fulfil the needs of each customer by not only listening to them, but by applying their input," says Derek Hughes, MD of DVT Gauteng.
Radical v5.0.1 contains several new modules and enhancements, including:
* HTML-based SMTP e-mails;
* Radical e-Forms;
* An Archive Tool in the Administrator suite of tools;
* My BookMarks;
* Locking/Unlocking of the package editor;
* A Business Rules log;
* Hidden filters; and Alert Record Preview.
The Radical Business Rule processor has a new WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) HTML editor and SMTP e-mail engine to allow the delivery of richer, more readable communications to customers and users. Delivery of HTML-based content enables better marketing and branding of all communications to target audiences, Hughes says.
He continues: "With a new Windows XP look and feel, Radical v5 uses service-oriented architecture (SOA) to deliver rich and flexible functionality to customers. There were two main focuses in this latest release: e-mail and the help-desk. E-mail has become the dominant tool for business communications, with many customers having their e-mail client as their most frequently used application. Therefore, introducing Radical e-Forms melds the power of Radical`s Business Rules with the accessibility and familiarly of e-mail."
Radical e-Forms allows the publication of Radical forms via e-mail directly to the target audience, providing a mechanism with which to interact directly with the Radical backend solution.
Interactive forms are embedded or attached in standard e-mails via the Radical Business Rule Processor. Users or customers then read the e-mail, complete the form and submit to a server-based ASP.Net component that enters the data into the relevant Radical modules. This may trigger another business rule to send a second e-mail confirming the submission or requesting additional information.
Hughes concludes: "DVT has done extensive work to enhance the functionality and look of the base Helpdesk package definition and forms. Radical v5 also sees the introduction of additional features such as search controls in security profiles and controlled access to database utilities."
