E-business gurus to share expertise with South African industry

Veterans and rising stars of online industry gathering to share insights, ideas and information with South African business community as country's online audience begins to boom.
Johannesburg, 18 Jan 2007

Business information dissemination company, Knowledge Up-Grade Management (KUGM), is hosting the inaugural Online Industry Summit from 7 to 9 February at Emperors in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

An essential event for anyone involved in e-business, marketing and the media, delegates attending the summit will be able to hear views and exchange ideas on how best to exploit the online medium with the 23 industry experts speaking at the event.

"It's a really phenomenal line-up of speakers, the 'who's who' of the online industry," enthuses well-known marketing and technology consultant, Brian Carl Brown. "These people have 'done it' and know what they're talking about. I'm very excited about the invaluable information and money-making opportunities they will be sharing with us."

As the South African online audience begins to boom, the need to integrate Internet-based marketing technologies and strategies into local - as well as international - campaigns is becoming critical. The Online Industry Summit aims to establish best practice guidelines and arm delegates with the tools to ensure their campaigns deliver as effectively as possible.

The comprehensive agenda for the summit will cover a wide array of subjects ranging from what the shifting patterns of media consumption will mean for your business and how best to drive online sales, to the ECT Act and online media law. Delegates will also be exposed to global and local e-commerce trends, e-government and the very latest tools, tricks and technologies available to help realise the power of conducting business online.

"Companies are starting to realise that they are missing out on important sales because customers are responding less to traditional marketing and advertising methods every year," notes Mike Stopforth, managing director of thriving social media consultancy Cerebra and one of the guest speakers at the Summit.

"Customers are evolving, they are more sophisticated, connected and informed than ever before and the challenge facing companies is how to combine the new technologies and techniques available to produce the best results."

Also speaking at the summit will be industry veterans Jovan Regasek, publisher and CEO of ITWeb, and Arthur Goldstuck, managing director of independent Internet and IT research company World Wide Worx. Alongside the seasoned experts among the 23 speakers at the summit will be several of the rising stars of the online world, including Top ICT Young Entrepreneur in Africa, Vinny Lingham, founder of world-renowned search engine marketing and technology company, incuBeta.
