Mercury Interactive Corporation, the world`s leading provider of Internet application testing solutions, has announced that ten more companies have joined its E-Business Alliance Program, bringing the total number to 20.
The new e-business technology innovators to join the Program are BEA Systems, Inc., BroadVision, Inc., CommerceQuest, DoubleClick, HAHT Software, IONA Technologies, OneSoft Corp., Peakstone Corp., Selectica, and TimesTen Performance Software.
Volkmar Spieth, MD of Mercury Interactive (South Africa), says the E-Business Alliance Program is comprised of visionary Internet application server, development tool and Web application vendors who have adopted Mercury Interactive`s LoadRunner and WinRunner for use in their benchmarking and performance testing centres.
Participants leverage Mercury Interactive`s industry leading functional and load testing solutions to deliver scalable, high-performance e-business applications that provide a positive user experience to their customers.
In addition, the leading software test lab, NSTL, has joined the E-Business Alliance Program and will act as a certification authority for tests performed by E-Business Alliance Partners. NSTL will offer a number of service levels to alliance members and offer certification awards for alliance partner load tests conducted at NSTL testing labs or using NSTL-approved test methodology.
NSTL has software testing labs worldwide and will serve as E-Business Alliance testing centres and offer expertise in load testing using Mercury Interactive`s LoadRunner.
"With Web site crashes in the headlines nearly every day, testing has become top-of-mind for dot coms as well as large companies delivering Web applications," comments Spieth.
"Because of the critical need for e-businesses to demonstrate that their applications provide a positive user experience and will stand up to enterprise-level load, Mercury Interactive`s E-Business Alliance Program has gained significant momentum."
As members of Mercury Interactive`s E-Business Alliance Program, participants are able to create benchmarks with a single tool to verify performance across the enterprise and accelerate deployment of e-business applications. Members receive access to the latest versions of LoadRunner and WinRunner with full customer support, including upgrades, applicable test libraries, and certification on Mercury Interactive products.
The new participants join E-Business Alliance Partners announced earlier this year including Allaire Corp., Ariba Inc., Bluestone Software, Calico Commerce, Inc., Gemstone Systems Inc., nCipher Inc., SilverStream, Sun-Netscape Alliance, Symantec and Vision Software
NSTL`s e-commerce testing facility
In May 1999 NSTL announced its E-Commerce Scalability Test Lab. The lab features dozens of powerful client workstations and networking equipment, and is capable of testing the performance and scalability of an end-to-end solution, not just individual components. The facility is capable of generating large loads of concurrent Web clients, with automatic electronic data capture of a wide variety of statistics. The lab is capable of generating a realistic load consisting of a mix of user profiles, simultaneously exercising different portions of a dynamic Web application based on real-world Web usage patterns.
"IT managers need objective data that can form the basis for making solid technology decisions," notes Lloyd Holder, Director of Testing for NSTL. "Our testing expertise combined with Mercury Interactive`s tools will give IT managers the data necessary to make solid technology decisions and help ensure the scalability and performance of their critical e-commerce sites."
