Safmarine has launched a new-look Web site combining several features to serve an increasing number of online customers, with less click-throughs, improved response times and state of the art IBM WebSphere infrastructure software, integrated and implemented by Safmarine Computer Services (SCS).
The new-look Web site is aimed at improving the performance, usability and client experience, thereby enhancing the user interface.
"The Web site is more interactive with visual capabilities like maps and graphics which show shipping routes, and customers are now able to obtain direct on-line service support either via e-mail or on a new 'call me back' facility," said SCS Project Manager, Gerhard Sevenster.
"One of the challenges was implementing multiple platforms and working across different technologies, ensuring that all visitors to the site, even those with old browsers, have adequate access," said SCS Websphere senior consultant Shamim Mirzai.
Further enhancements to www.safmarine.com are planned in the coming quarter.
"By the end of this year, Safmarine customers will be able to personalise the Web site home page to suit their own needs and priorities. Web chat and 24-hour support facilities are also in the pipeline, "said e-business Executive Jan Van Dooren.
