With the WWW being an integral part of its business, E-data, a provider of investment information and services of South African equities services, has decided on eSafe`s Protect Enterprise 2.0 to protect its network from Internet borne viruses and vandals.
E-data offers coverage of every JSE listed company and provides a platform for the marketing of South Africa`s investment potential to the world. The company lures potential investors with financial information as well as results on statistics and shares information.
"The nature of our business revolves around the Internet and e-mail on a daily basis, with users constantly on the network," says Ryan Cane, network administrator at E-data. "We were wary of the risks inherent in exposing our mission-critical data, as we cannot afford to waste time to recover information due to malicious code slipping through security breaches on e-mail and Internet clients.
"With eSafe Protect Enterprise, secure and effective protection can be deployed and managed across the whole network, eliminating the time needed to install it on each machine.
"This also minimises the need for support calls as the settings are the same across the whole network, and cannot be tampered with by individual users," says Cane.
Commenting on the technology found inside eSafe`s Protect Gateway, Brett Myroff, CEO of eSafe Technologies SA, says the software uses a sandbox quarantine area where all data is checked.
"Administrators can also use a learning sandbox that allows them to install a new application on one computer and learn its acceptable behavioral patterns before deploying it for usage across the company`s networks," he says.
