Safety Media has unveiled what it describes as a cost-effective e-learning solution for SMEs. Its SME e-learning portfolio consists of 47 interactive and video courses, on topics ranging from manual handling to fire safety to swine flu, reports SHP Online.

Each course includes a self-test and analysis and the user has full access to the firm's learning management system.

Customers pay for the training courses via training credits, which cost £10 each. Each course requires one training credit per employee. There is no minimum order number of training credits.

BCS intros Savvy Citizens Web site

The BCS Chartered Institute for IT has unveiled the Savvy Citizens Web site designed to boost the technical knowledge of the UK population, states Computing.co.uk.

The organisation said that just 20% of UK citizens are "information savvy", and warned that the remainder are missing out on many positive benefits of new technology.

"Unless all members of society are made of how they can access and use information in their daily lives, the significant proportion of Britons who are failing to realise the benefits of IT will persist," says Elizabeth Sparrow, president of the BCS Chartered Institute for IT.

iPhone releases pre-schooler apps

Zinc Roe has introduced Tickle Tap Apps, a new series of innovative applications designed to keep children entertained as well as stimulate their learning process, says Mobiletor.

Developed by child gaming experts and analysed by educational researchers, these new apps are said to help parents to boost their child's concentration levels and improve learning skills.

Tickle Tap Apps enhance the key skills of preschoolers by helping them in identifying different sounds, numbers, colours, patterns and shapes with simple taps on the device's screen. With the iPhone's intuitive interface, the device serves as a tactile platform for innovative educational applications.
