Holton & Associates, the sole distributor for WinVista Corporation in Southern Africa, today announced that e-OPI is now available in South Africa. This is another product in their portfolio that addresses desktop security and management issues, and which potentially forms part of any company`s "good corporate governance" policy.
e-OPI allows an individual to control access and usage of his/her documents and emails, wherever they are located. The unique design feature of e-Opi is its ability to encapsulate the writer`s decisions in this regard to apply when the receiver opens the relevant e-mail or attachment. The decisions set by the writer will stay encapsulated with document for its life and can only be changed by the writer.
Decisions made by the writer may include all or any of the following:
Who may view an e-mail and the authentication method to be used
An `activate date` before which a mail may not be viewed
A `shred date` after which a mail may not be accessed
Force the user to only be able to reply to the Sender
Stop the user being able to print the e-mail
Stop the user being able to Cut/Copy/Paste e-mail contents
Stop the user from changing the contents
Stop the user from forwarding the mail or attachment
An e-OPI document can be created with Outlook, together with/without an attachment using Microsoft Office Word(tm), Excel(tm), Power Point(tm) and Project(tm) applications as well as Notepad (.TXT) and Explorer (.HTML.). When an individual is ready to save (send), e-Opi pops up and asks him/her to assign any of the above mentioned restrictions to the receiver.
When e-mail is sent, there are 4 methods of authentication to approve that the receiver may receive and open the Outlook mail or document: -
PKI Public/Private Key digital certificate authentication
Pass phrase previously communicated to the receiver
Member of Group say payroll department
Member of NT Domain or LDAP group
N.B.
e-Opi supports a `sign when delivered` option that watermarks a document upon delivery. This assures that the intended recipient may only access the information on the authorised machine, and attempts by a recipient to `move` information will fail, even if they have the correct pass phrases or certificates for access.
If the receiver does not use e-Opi, then a free reader is available from Holton Associates, or via the Web, so that he/she can open the mail and attachments.
e-OPI addresses securing e-mail communications for large corporations, medium sized enterprises and small/home office users. e-OPI seamlessly integrates into MS Outlook client software, ensuring protection of the integrity of your corporate e-mail communications.
