The emergence of a newly established company, a member of the Fintech group of companies, will provide a valuable niche service to the market, offering highly specialised information technology expertise. Founded in June 1999, e-Secure is poised to lead the way in enterprise security and knowledge management.
With e-commerce fast becoming integral to business processes, the issue of enterprise security is more prevalent than ever and, in fact, crucial for organisations to secure a competitive edge . In spite of this, organisation are prone to ignore or overlook these concepts. "e-Secure has been formed following a dire need for competent security skills in the marketplace, specifically as it is impacted by information technology," states managing director Angus Macintosh, active in the computer industry for 20 years.
"As more and more companies become e-commerce enabled, information security becomes exceedingly important." This and other factors, for example the growing skills shortage in South Africa especially in the information security arena, have warranted a specialised business that concentrates specifically on information security.
e-Secure is arguably one of the only companies in South Africa offering an exclusively service-oriented enterprise security and knowledge management facility. Although a number of vendors claim to offer similar services, the luxury of a company that focuses solely on the service aspect is virtually unheard of. The company offers everything from forensic auditing (particularly preventative forensic auditing) to outsourcing, implementation, training and risk assessment.
Macintosh classifies the major services of e-Secure under five main banners, namely Forensic Auditing, Security Lifecycle Services, Public Key Infrastructure, Outsourcing and Knowledge Management. To facilitate superior products which are able to satisfy clients` current and future requirements, e-Secure will look to the market to gauge the effectiveness and strength of existing and innovative products. Considering the prevalence today, and evidently more so in the future of a myriad of incoming / outgoing communication channels connected to company infrastructures, the ability to supply and/or implement and maintain entire product sets will undoubtedly remain. "We will always employ and recommend best-of-breed software to clients," states Macintosh.
In spite of its vast range of leading security software, particularly for diagnostic vulnerability assessments, the focus of e-Secure is about product independence, ie intensive service orientation. The long term aim of the company is to build a leading business that offers professional services to its client base in the most cost-effective manner, enabling organisations of any size to focus on core business and become more effective in their markets. "It is our goal to become the trusted partner to clients," says Macintosh.
At present, e-Secure is involved in the implementation of a large-scale security initiative for a major South African business group, as well as a range of diagnostic vulnerability assessments (DVA) for several clients. Regarding future growth, Macintosh maintains that a number of opportunities are likely to manifest for expansion beyond South African borders. "Presently, discussions are underway with a company that is eager to get us involved in the Middle East. This is under due consideration."
