EA to be Indian game changer

Enterprise architecture (EA) is set to be the next big game changer in India, prompted by new challenges, including the need for enterprises to support a heterogeneous customer base, growing competition from global firms and need for short-response cycles, says The Times of India.

EA is a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure and operation of an organisation through which enterprises could effectively achieve its current and future objectives.

"The biggest challenge that enterprises are facing today are rate of change and complexity," said John Zachman, the originator of the Zachman Framework, a standard for classifying the descriptive representations or models that comprise enterprise architecture.

New life for EA

EA may be an old warhorse in IT terms, but it can provide real value for shiny new initiatives in such things as cloud computing, cyber and telework in the US, reports Government Computer News.

That was one of the messages from EA practitioners speaking at an EA conference and exhibition in Washington DC.

The conference was sponsored by 1105 Government Information Group and its partners the FEAC Institute and The Department of Agriculture's Graduate School.

ManTech awarded agriculture contract

ManTech, provider of technologies and solutions for mission-critical national programs, has been awarded a contract to support the US Department of Agriculture Office of the chief information officer, Agriculture Security Operations Centre, writes TMCnet.

Under the terms of this contract, ManTech has agreed to provide 24/7 incident handling and strategic support to help detect and report malicious cyber activities on the agency's enterprise information infrastructure.

The contract, which has an initial period of one year and four one-year extension options, is estimated to be worth up to $10.8 million.
