Flower specialist Hadeco has contracted with Universal Computer Services company EasiRun Software in a R192 000 project which gears the organisation for the millennium switch and bolsters the speed and efficiency of sales order procedures.
Hadeco is an international leader in the breeding, cultivation and worldwide distribution of flower bulbs, fresh cut flowers and in vitro plant material produced in laboratories. The company`s existing software suite had proven "seriously lacking" on export facilities, with EasiRun brought on board to carry out modifications using its in-house developed FlexGen application development tool.
"We needed more input fields than the Impact accounting system could offer, and fields that could contain far more detail," says Hadeco director Stuart Barnhoorn. "We also needed a system that could handle multiple sales allocations to one product line.
"In addition, the existing method of doing sales orders was cumbersome and time consuming."
Hadeco exports worldwide and requires numerous specialised documents, which are processed through FlexGen. "The system has been designed to be fast and simple to use," says Barnhoorn.
In addition, some of Impact`s functions have been redesigned and tweaked to significantly speed input procedures and "get more out of the software".
In a partnership which kicked off in February 1995, EasiRun has supplied a range of sub-systems and modifications. Modules developed by EasiRun for Hadeco include export sales orders and invoicing, specialised packing details for the warehouse, specialised sales allocation programs, numerous specialised reporting procedures, fresh cut flower order and invoicing system, and a simplified stock issue and receipt program.
"We`ve received very good service and backup from EasiRun throughout," says Barnhoorn.
West Rand-based Hadeco runs on a Novell network with 16 users. The FlexGen add-on sub-systems, written to Hadeco`s specifications, complement the core Impact Award accounting package.
"The add-on programs are totally suited to the specific needs of Hadeco and provide for user-friendly, fast capturing of orders and invoices for both the local and export markets," says EasiRun`s Angela McMean.
"The system also facilitates easy entry of mail orders. A highly reliable stock inquiry module makes provision for easy-to-access, fast and reliable stock control enquiries.
"EasiRun Software provides ongoing program enhancements on request, as well as supporting the add-on systems on an ad hoc basis."
