EasiRun, the largest distributor of Cobol products in Africa, has scored a double coup with MERANT, one of the world`s leading suppliers of enterprise application development solutions.
The UCS Group company has been appointed by MERANT as South Africa`s sole distributor of the United States-based company`s Micro Focus range of enterprise application development products and services. And in a second agreement, EasiRun has secured sole distribution rights for MERANT`s data access middleware solutions, DataDirect SequeLink and DataDirect Connect.
With more than 20 years of industry experience, industry-leading products and proven implementation, consulting and training processes, MERANT, is dedicated to helping organisations create solutions that accelerate the development, delivery and integration of applications in today`s multi-platform computing environments to meet the challenges of the rapidly evolving electronic economy.
MERANT, formed by the merger of Micro Focus and Intersolv at the beginning of the year, has been represented in South Africa through various distributors for more than 10 years and has built a considerable customer base.
According to Scott Pearson, MERANT`s international sales manager, the appointment of EasiRun as sole distributor shows MERANT`s confidence in EasiRun`s track record, the increasing importance of the South African market and MERANT`s desire to serve their customers better.
Pat Fitzgerald, EasiRun's managing director, says the dual appointment opens up many prospective opportunities for the company, a member of the JSE-listed UCS Group Limited.
