eBay intros outlet section

EBay has introduced an outlet section on its Web site in its latest attempt to become more attractive to retailers, says Retail Week.

The outlet section sells products at up to 70% off recommended price with retailers including Argos, Schuh, JD Sports Fashion and The Entertainer all signed up to the area. Each retailer has its own online shop-in-shop that can be linked to through the outlet, which sells largely branded goods.

A spokeswoman from eBay says: “The outlet brings brands together in one place as we want to make it easier for buyers to find what they want”.

PandoraBox helps uncover iPhone app sales

Free iPhone app PandoraBox can help users track down the latest and greatest sales on iPhone software, reports CNET News.

On the surface, PandoraBox is similar to the App Store. Users can search for software by name or browse by selecting among categories. The 'new apps' section points to the latest software, while the 'what's hot' and 'wish list' sections display popular applications.

PandoraBox also provides most of the standard details about an app. It displays the full description, screenshots, ratings, and stats. If visitors want to read the user reviews or download a program, PandoraBox will lead them straight to the App Store itself.

Procter & Gamble build new platform

Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) has hired Accenture to revamp its global Web technology setup under a multi-year deal, states Computing.co.uk.

Under the services agreement, the two firms will develop a platform focused on the consumer's online experience. The technology is intended to analyse customer behaviour and preferences while presenting relevant content and information to improve the Web experience.

“Digital is becoming an increasingly critical component in reaching consumers,” says vice-president of business building solutions at P&G, Marta Foster.
