eBay sells 65% Skype stake
eBay has reached an agreement to sell a 65% stake in voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) giant Skype, for $1.9 billion in cash, to an investor group led by Silver Lake, reports PC Advisor.
In addition, eBay will receive a note in the principal amount of $125 million from the buyers, which also include Index Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
The deal, which isn't subject to financing conditions and is expected to close in this year's fourth quarter, puts Skype's value at $2.75 billion.
Vox brings VOIP to call centres
Vox Communications has decided to start providing VOIP services to call centres that utilise predictive dialling services, states TMCnet.
According to Paul Riss, CEO of Vox, the telco has signed-up 10 dialler companies last month and will be adding 10 more diallers in September.
Vox currently services a 40-seat call centre in the Dominican Republic, a call centre in Puerto Rico, and several US-based companies that use a predictive dialler.
VOIP Logic buys out SunDial
VOIP Logic, a managed VOIP provider, has purchased VOIP engineering firm SunDial for an undisclosed amount, says Fierce VOIP.
SunDial will be absorbed by VOIP Logic, with SunDial CEO Ardeshir Ghanbarzadeh joining VOIP Logic as vice-president of operations.
VOIP Logic CEO Micah Singer says the transaction made strategic sense for the company, because it adds professional engineering services and capitalises on the company's growth.
