E-business company e.com institute has become one of the first local companies to be appointed as a corporate business partner on Symantec`s newly launched Partner Programme.
As a member of the programme, which is designed to create synergy with its partners and customers and deliver technical and sales support according to market requirements, e.com institute has access to beta products and works with the vendor on large corporate accounts.
Considerable success has already been achieved, with e.com institute being instrumental in Symantec SA`s first global deal which involved selling its Global Licensing Programme into Billiton in South Africa, London and Australia.
In addition, several other large corporate clients have purchased Norton AntiVirus enterprise solutions from e.com institute.
John Berry, joint MD at e.com institute, says his company is able to offer organisations the highest degree of first-level support on Symantec products as well as integrating into their current IT security solutions.
"We are also supplying Platinum Support contracts to our major clients, which is Symantec`s highest level of support," he says.
Berry adds that as corporates realise the necessity of protecting the kind of information that comes in and goes out of their organisations, the need for content management software increases. With this in mind, Symantec`s new Mail-Gear and I-Gear filtering products have been greeted with enthusiasm.
"As a corporate business partner, we received beta versions of the I-Gear and Mail-Gear products and have already established several successful pilot projects in insurance and financial companies," he explains.
"The potential for Mail-Gear, policy-based e-mail filtering software, and I-Gear, a multi-platform, policy-based URL filtering product, is enormous, especially now the Y2K issue is a thing of the past," Berry says.
In another move to promote its partnership with Symantec, e.com institute recently hosted an NT Security seminar with Microsoft.
"Our long-standing history with Symantec means we understand its products very well and we are able to support the product set at the highest levels."
Jako Voges, marketing manager for Symantec`s Middle East & Africa region, says e.com institute is making a valuable contribution towards the security segment.
"We know the company will service Symantec customers in its usual proactive manner," he adds.
