Newly established local e-business company, e.com institute, has signed an agreement to represent Internet Dynamics`s Conclave product set in Africa and the Middle East.
Internet Dynamics is a Microsoft Security Partner and Conclave, which is a security product and an information access tool combined into one, runs on and is fully integrated into Windows NT.
John Berry, joint MD at e.com institute, says that while the Internet is redefining how people share and access vast quantities of information, companies are at the same time expanding their boundaries and opening up their networks to business partners to form extended extranets as never before.
"These two elements have created the need for a new security model, one which exploits the opportunity to share information while maintaining tight security," he explains.
e.com institute offers a totally integrated, secure, end-to-end e-business solution which includes development, infrastructure, secure payment processing, customer service and strong security skills.
Traditionally, companies install a firewall, which is regarded as the first generation of network security products for the Internet age.
"However, firewalls defend information assets through a gross view of the world, while data is considered to be information inside a vault - to which only a list of approved users may enter.
"But this static model needs to change. In today`s exploding business environment, companies evolve in unpredictable patterns, new users and partners need access to information and the old firewall model is quite simply being pushed to its limits."
Berry says that the demands and security imperatives of intranet and extranet access to information need to be coupled with a flexible and extendable integrated security architecture.
"Conclave gives us just this solution. It is almost unequalled as an integrated security solution because it includes a fully functional firewall with encryption, secure access control, authentication, a certificate authority, anti-virus, active content management, dynamic VPN technology and distributed administration.
"This approach makes Conclave much easier to manage as an integrated security solution as opposed to stand-alone firewalls that try to add on other security features as an after-thought."
Conclave recently won an award at the NetWorld/Interop show for the best security product while "Forrester and several other analysts have been singing its praises as the leader in next-generation fine-grained security solution", Berry says.
