Edcon, Africa`s largest fashion retail group, has implemented the Contactor service for data cleaning and validation of customer telephone numbers. Contactor ensures the correct format of area codes, telephone numbers and compatibility between postal and telephone area codes.
Edcon is a leader in the use of predictive dialling technology over a wide range of customer campaign types and so accurate telephone numbers are vital. However, over the past 36 months, the area codes and number formats of over one million telephone numbers have changed in SA, creating significant operational issues for Edcon and all other credit grantors in the country.
Jaco van Jaarsveldt, Group Financial Services Risk Manager, states: "Edcon currently conducts automated dialling campaigns on mildly delinquent accounts. However, we took the decision to run all customers through the Contactor service and received updated telephone numbers for over 900 000 customer records, which we can now use to conduct increased telemarketing campaigns.
"We are very pleased with the results of the Contactor service and are convinced that the corrected numbers will significantly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our dialling campaigns and our collections results. Any improvement in the contactability of our delinquent customers will result in additional recoveries that will far outweigh the costs of this service."
