EDS has announced new and expanded business agreements with three clients in the transportation industry in Europe. Highlights of today`s announcements, terms of which were not disclosed, include:
* DHL Aviation, part of DHL, and EDS announced a contract to provide systems integration and program management services for DHL Aviation Europe. Using industry-leading solutions, EDS will design and implement an integrated application architecture and develop a data warehouse to enable extensive performance monitoring and key operational reporting.
These new integrated systems will ensure greater operational control and efficiency of DHL`s European air and road networks of more than 90 locations across Europe. EDS also will test and implement the total solution and provide the services to ensure the implementation of a high-availability hardware infrastructure from which the software and data warehouse will run.
* Belgian Ground Services (BGS) signed a new, two-year contract with EDS Switzerland to utilise EDS` sophisticated airline service offerings - axsControl, axsMessaging and axsGroundinfo. EDS` integrated, modular solution supports the full range of airline operations. BGS will utilise these products for passenger baggage and aircraft handling services, including baggage reconciliation, tracking and management, load planning and load control, and communication and message management.
Independent consultants have singled out EDS` airline solution as the "most competent and qualified system" in the industry. Currently, it supports more than 300 airlines throughout the world, touching more than 50 million passengers per year through EDS` host system in Zurich. Another 100 million passengers are handled annually through other airlines` systems licensed by EDS.
* Jet Aviation also announced its intent to utilise EDS` axsRes offering. The four-year contract with EDS Switzerland will utilise axsControl to support all the airline`s ground handling activities in Zurich and Geneva.
